As the original education partner for The 1619 Project, the Pulitzer Center is proud to introduce a new series of virtual workshops designed to connect educators with resources from The 1619 Project and global journalism that explores its themes.
The 1619 Global Connections Series offers interactive sessions that equip educators with tools to help students understand America’s origin story—and empower them to shape its next chapter.
Timed ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, this series creates space to bridge historical context, local experiences, and global issues, examining the past, present, and future of the United States.
Participants will strengthen media literacy and global citizenship skills while engaging with Pulitzer Center reporting on Global Health, Climate & Environment, Peace & Conflict, and Information & Artificial Intelligence.
These topics align with The 1619 Project’s mission to interrogate historical narratives, recognize Black Americans’ contributions, and explore the enduring legacies of slavery.
