When Minor Children Run Their Own Parents Away

It’s about the unhealed story the child believes they lived. And once that story calcifies, even love can’t pry it loose.

My nephew is dealing with a situation where, while trying to parent his children through his ex-wife as co-parent, they made a choice to do themselves harm in his presence.

He tried to stop it. A fight ensued, and he came out of it with the charges they should have gotten.

He went to court and was ordered by a judge of “no-contact.” I feel like it was for his own good as well as theirs. He was too busy trying to NOT be the absentee father and that isn’t what they desired.

They desired material things and cell phone rights more than they did appreciating having their father in their lives, and now they don’t have him any more — under court order, and because now that he has had to remove himself due to their actions, he no longers wants them anywhere near him. And rightfully so.

Sorry y’all, but women are not always in the right when men walk away from their families. That’s the bottom line.

It wasn’t the first time he’s had to deal with her as a physically abusive spouse, which was one of the reasons they were divorced; but to top that off, she has taught her minor children-now-teens to be as abusive and disrespectful toward him as she once was.

I know that we went through a season in time during the 1980s when Ronald Reagan, during his term of office, poisoned the Black communities across the nation with crack cocaine.

And through the drug defalcations of the United States and its desire to hurt and harm Black people out of sheer hatred and lust, it spread profusely, profanely, and quickly — which resulted in long-term pain and harm and endangerment the likes of which Black people had not seen since the slave chains came off.

My nephew tried to do right by them.

He went there, he spent additional money on top of the child support he was paying, for things he wasn’t required by law to give them. They chose otherwise. To discard him and his desire to keep them safe and cared for over simple-minded things that I think only crackheads would care about.

But herein lies the results of the demand that “crack babies” be salvaged during this tumultuous season of a different kind of abuse of Black America…those crack babies grew up and propagated and now the vast majority of them that became parents are now grandparents and great-grandparents themselves, having passed on the genetic traits of fetal blood-borne drug addictions as well as whatever DNA came with them naturally.

Maybe it wasn’t about that at all, but that woman’s entirely family seems to have abnormal behavioral tendencies that point in that direction.

When Minor Children Run Their Fathers Away. Permanently.

This isn’t estrangement born of adult reinterpretation, this is a household where the authority structure has inverted, and the father is pushed out not by his own failures, but by the children’s behavior and the mother’s refusal (or inability) to discipline them, let alone teach them to respect their father.

This is a different kind of exile. It’s domestic collapse in slow motion.

“Black children who don’t have their fathers at home” takes on a whole different twist when a man tries and they run him away because they can’t tell the difference between someone who tries and someone who really doesn’t care about them.

Because of their behavior, they lost their father — and only one of them -his son- is welcome back into his life after they are adults and this moment has passed.

His daughter will only be able to say she didn’t have her father in her life because she ran him away.

Her own actions, her own attitude, her own unwillingness to drop the charges against him after she attacked him first — he had to take necessary action to keep her from killing him…over a filthy cell phone.

I pray that cell phone can be the parent she’s missing. Or maybe her mother will remarry someone who will treat her even worse.

Yeah. I know that sounds ill-willed and mean-spirited, but ‘ Ill Will Meets Ill Will ‘ in this case.

Her father not being in her life and her being unwelcome even after she’s an adult is no one’s fault but her own. She will have only herself to blame for it. There is no reconcilation to be had in that.

And he will always and forever rightly tell her ‘NO’.

He did right by her. She chose otherwise.
