Cars actually STOPPED for a funeral procession from Hill-Watson on Hamilton Road and one man who was waiting at the bus stop a block away from the funeral home actually tipped his cap out of respect for the family.
That was something old school style - a lost art of community and familial respect in The Village that had been mostly ignored for far too long.
Even when my 84-year old grandmother died in 1989 (services handled by E.W. Sherald's), people sped past us on Buena Vista Road as we headed toward Green Acres on Schatulga Road.
It was as if we were not there.
