Nichelle Nichols, who broke barriers for women and girls everywhere, is dearly missed every day.
We are thrilled that she will continue to help girls reach for the stars through the Nichelle Nichols Space Camp, set to open in Huntsville, Alabama in 2026.
By cultivating young leaders through the philosophy of IDIC–Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations–this incredible new program is building the future that we’ve all hoped for.
Ms Nichols was a highly loved and well-respected American actress, singer and dancer who portrayed Lieutenant Uhura in the television series "Star Trek", a long-running television series initially backed by Desilu Studios and Lucille Ball.
The film sequel was groundbreaking for African American actors on the American television soundstages. [ The Nichelle Nichols Foundation is located in Manhattan Beach, CA. ]
She was born December 28, 1932 in Robbins, IL and died on July 30, 2022 at the age of 89, in Silver City, NM.
