When a child is diagnosed with cancer, everything STOPS.

A family’s whole life changes just like that and it does not go back to normal. Bills and stress are at an all-time high and help from others is critical.

One in 285 children in the U.S. will be diagnosed with cancer by the time they are 20 years old. Childhood cancer research and treatments are vastly and consistently underfunded.

Keris was born in Columbus, Georgia on May 18, 2009.

She was a vibrant and faithful child who bravely battled a rare form of pediatric brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) from the age of 4 until her transition at the age of 6. She made a lasting impression on those that knew her.

The name Keris means love and charity.

On November 22, 2013, four year old Keris Bembry was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. Keris complained of headaches for a couple of weeks prior and then developed progressive imbalance. After being misdiagnosed a few times, her parents followed their gut and took Keris to Scottish Rite in Atlanta. An MRI revealed that Keris had developed Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). DIPG makes up 10-15% of all brain tumors in children, with about 100-150 new diagnoses per year in the United States and about 300 per year in all of North America and Europe.Immediately after receiving the diagnosis, there was an outpouring of love, prayers and financial support from family, friends and total strangers. Although it initially was a very dark time for the family, the support of others helped take the load off. Keris Kares was founded to provide that same hope, love and support to families that find themselves in similar situations due to a childhood cancer diagnosis.

Our driving motivation is to pay it forward with love and charity and bless other hurting families the same way the community blessed Keris. Proceeds from this event fund our Family Emergency Fund where household bills are paid for families dealing with a pediatric cancer diagnosis.

We also donate half of the proceeds from this event to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of Georgia.

Keris Kares' mission is to provide hope for families dealing with a childhood cancer diagnosis by providing spiritual, emotional, and financial support. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!
