This year’s MLK Day theme is, “It’s Up To Me!” Everything begins within.

It is important to display our Achievement Driven culture by serving with a Spirit of Gratitude and Receiving with a Spirit of Gratitude also.

The Columbus Platoon will be expanding the community garden at Liberty Theatre to include building two raised garden beds and four benches, planting plants and creating an irrigation system for the garden beds.

At 9:00 am volunteers will meet at the Liberty Theatre Cultural Center

Those able and willing will then walk two blocks over to the Prince Hall Masonic Temple, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke in the Thomas Auditorium on July 1, 1958, about racial injustice and how to amicably work things out for the betterment of Columbus, GA and the surrounding areas.

We will have a moment of reflection and then walk back to Liberty Theatre Cultural Center to begin the service project. If you are well and able, please join us at this memorable family day of service to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
