A clinical trial conducted by the drug company Merck has found that an antiviral medication called Molnupiravir reduces the likelihood of hospitalization and death by nearly half. The FDA halted early trials so that Merck could get an "emergency use" authorization.
Right now, the only medication that comes anywhere close to this success is monoclonal antibodies, which are expensive to manufacture and administer in a clinic with an infusion.
A simple pill that could prevent the worst of the disease that’s plagued us for the last year and a half?
