Did You Know That More Than Half of the United States is Functionally Illiterate?

When I worked at the Ledger-Enquirer News in the 1980s, we were told not to write anything that was grammatically above the level of an 8th grade reading because that was the average educable reader's intellect.

It's 2022.

The level has since dropped from 8th grade to 6th grade.

Are Americans in the U.S. proud of being only as educated as they need to be to survive?
